T. Stewart Lee
Stewart concentrates his practice on the representation of primarily individuals in various legal matters, including workers’ compensation claims, motor vehicle accidents, truck wreck accidents, ERISA matters and general tort actions. He is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Mississippi and has extensive experience representing individuals in matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Stewart has a unique background in that he has worked for one of the state’s largest firms, Brunini, Grantham, Grower & Hewes, PLLC (2001-2006), where he represented both businesses and individuals in a wide variety of lawsuits, including complex commercial and mass tort litigation, and he was a partner with a boutique workers’ compensation and litigation firm, Jones, Funderburg, Sessums, Peterson & Lee, PLLC (2006-2011).
Stewart was selected by his peers to be listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the area of Workers’ Compensation Law for the years 2012 through 2017 and was named Best Lawyers’ Workers’ Compensation - Claimants “Lawyer of the Year” for 2016. Further, Stewart was selected to the Mississippi Super Lawyers list for the years 2013-2016. Only 5% of the lawyers in the state were selected. Mid-South Super Lawyers in 2016 listed Stewart as one of the top 50 Mississippi lawyers. He was also named a Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2010 and 2011 in the area of workers’ compensation law.
Stewart was appointed to serve on the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Conference Steering Committee in 2009 and 2010 and has served on the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors. He also has been active in Jackson Young Lawyers, having served on the Membership Committee and on the Board of Directors and served on the Hinds County Bar Pro Bono Committee.
Stewart was inducted in the 2015 inaugural class of the Scott County Sports Hall of Fame and in 2017 was inducted into the Mississippi College Sports Hall of Fame. He was named the 2009 Mississippi College Young Alumnus of the Year. He has served as the M-Club President which is for former Mississippi College athletic letter winners, has served on the Mississippi College Alumni Board and the Mississippi College Wild Game Dinner Planning Committee, which raises money for Mississippi College Athletics. Additionally, Stewart has served as a University of Mississippi Law School Alumni Board Member.
Stewart obtained his undergraduate degree from Mississippi College in 1998 where he served as President of the Student Government Association and played shortstop on the MC baseball team where he was named to the Academic All American baseball team and made the all conference baseball team. While at MC, he received the NCAA Scholar Athlete Scholarship for graduate study. Stewart obtained his J.D. at the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001 where he was an Eastland Scholar, served on the Moot Court Executive Board, served as Mississippi Law Journal Associate Articles Editor and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
